Business Improvement Models, Tools & Awards Working Group

The Business Capability Partnership believes that a relevant business improvement model or framework, supported by appropriate assessment tools, is a catalyst for improving business performance and capability.

Over recent years, the various business excellence frameworks, associated awards and assessment tools used internationally have tended to become increasingly comparable as they have improved and adjusted their design and operation. All models emphasise continual analysis and improvement, and the associated assessments tend to share similar criteria, many using the Baldrige Criteria for Performance Excellence as the reference model.

Despite this, there is no explicitly consistent framework or set of assessment tools applied to business development services in New Zealand.

The Partnership is also undertaking a project aimed at delivering a coordinated and consistent package of diagnostic tools supported by a benchmarking database. The tools and database will be for the voluntary use of New Zealand suppliers of capability development services as well as businesses.

The Partnership is undertaking project that will supp support business awards by providing ready access to New Zealand specific award criteria and assisting them to provide the maximum benefit to all participants, not just the winners.
